Air Duct Cleaning
Air handlers in Richmond homes push the same air through the same metal for decades. DustAway Duct Solutions cleans the supply and return runs, along with the registers, grilles and boots, so the system you can see matches the parts you cannot. We work out of 3126 W Cary St in Carytown and cover the surrounding neighborhoods daily.

Scope of Work
What a residential duct visit includes
Supply runs
The lines carrying conditioned air out to each room, cleaned with agitation and vacuum from the trunk outward.
Return runs
The lines pulling air back to the air handler, which in older Richmond homes often collect the most debris.
Registers, grilles & boots
Removed, cleaned and refitted, including the metal boot sitting behind the visible cover.
Local Detail
Richmond ductwork is rarely uniform
A Museum District duplex may have two systems sharing one basement. A Fan row house might route ducts through a former chimney chase. Near West End ranches run long horizontal trunks under low crawlspaces. Scott's Addition lofts have exposed spiral duct overhead. We plan the visit around what is actually in the building rather than a fixed script.

FAQ
Air duct questions
- What happens to registers and grilles?
- They come off, get cleaned along with the boot behind them, and go back on. Cleaning ducts and leaving dusty grilles in place makes little sense.
- Do older Fan District homes take longer?
- Often, yes. Retrofitted systems in row houses can have awkward runs, shared chases and limited basement access, which adds time to the walkthrough and the work itself.
- Will you move furniture?
- We work around it and ask that heavy pieces blocking a register be shifted before we arrive so nothing gets scratched.
- How often should ducts be cleaned?
- There is no single answer. Renovation dust, pets, a system that has never been cleaned, or visible debris at the registers are the usual reasons Richmond homeowners call us.
