Ductwork in Richmond ranges from 1920s retrofits to sealed modern runs. Here is what we physically work on during a visit.

Supply & Return Ducts
The trunk lines and branches that move air through the building.

Registers, Grilles & Boots
The metalwork you see, plus the boot behind it.

Dryer Vent Lines
From the appliance connection to the exterior hood.

Commercial Ductwork
Shops, offices, studios and mixed-use suites.
The Visit
How a DustAway job runs
Five stages, in order, from the first walkthrough to the handover.
- 01
Walk the system
We look at the air handler, count registers and note access — attic, crawlspace, basement or ceiling.
- 02
Set containment
Drop cloths and covers go down so the work stays inside the ductwork, not on your floors.
- 03
Agitate and vacuum
Brushes and air tools loosen debris while the vacuum keeps it moving out of the run.
- 04
Clean the visible parts
Registers, grilles and boots are pulled, cleaned and reset so nothing looks half done.
- 05
Walk it back with you
We show what came out, reset the system and answer questions before we pack up.

FAQ
Questions we get in Richmond
- Which Richmond neighborhoods do you cover?
- Our shop sits on West Cary Street, so Carytown, the Museum District, The Fan, Byrd Park, Scott's Addition, the Near West End and Downtown Richmond are all short drives. Call with your address and we will confirm.
- How long does a duct cleaning visit take?
- It depends on the number of supply and return runs and how the system is laid out. A compact Fan District row house is quicker than a sprawling Near West End ranch. We give a time estimate when we quote the job.
- Do I need to be home during the work?
- Someone with access to the property should be there. We need to reach the furnace or air handler, every register and, for dryer vents, the exterior hood.
- Can you work around a shop's opening hours?
- For commercial jobs along Cary Street and in Scott's Addition we schedule around trading hours where the building allows it. Tell us your window when you request an estimate.
- How do I get a price?
- Call (804) 460-8113 or send the estimate form on this site with the property type and rough vent count. We will talk through what the job involves before any work is booked.
